What to Bring to Your First Visit
There’s not much you need to worry about for your first visit, especially if you’ve already completed your new patient paperwork online. If you’d prefer to fill out the paperwork in-person, feel free to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Our team will also ask you for a photo ID and dental insurance card, and we highly recommend that you bring a list of medications you’re taking!
What to Expect on Your First Visit
Your first visit to our Dental Designs of Maryland office in Columbia, MD will include a thorough examination and plenty of one-on-one time with one of our knowledgeable dentists. We’ll capture a full set of X-rays and complete an oral examination and oral cancer screening. If we spot any concerns during your checkup, we will also provide you with our treatment recommendations to help get your oral health on the right track.
No Cleaning on the First Visit?
We’re a little unique in the fact that we have a very personalized approach to dental care. Instead of rushing through a checkup and cleaning in an hour, we schedule our new patients’ checkup and cleaning appointments separately, allowing you to have one-on-one time with your dentist as well as a thorough personalized cleaning. In some cases, we may have same-day availability for your hygiene appointments, which would allow us to do both in a single trip, but this is typically offered on a case-by-case basis. If you have scheduling concerns and would like to plan your checkup and cleaning in a single trip to the office, please let us know, and we’ll be happy to accommodate you!

Before your first appointment with us, we ask that you do a few tasks to prepare for your visit. This includes filling out our new patient forms online, which will help streamline your appointment, as well as providing us with your dental insurance information.
